Staff Recognition - Administrative Assistants/Attendance Clerks

This week the Pierce Joint Unified School District recognizes the administrative assistants and attendance clerks at each of the school sites. These ladies, Veronica Dorantes, Xochi Dudley, Jane Hardy, Maryann Diaz, Mary Ornbaun and Maria Gonzalez, are the first and foremost staff that greet parents, teachers, students, and visitors who enter the school campuses. The pandemic has brought about changes in how they go about their work as well as different duties. Creating welcoming environments has been a challenge due to the Covid 19 safety protocols; however, they strive to continue serving students, staff and parents albeit behind plexiglass barriers. Attendance tracking has been a major focus this year especially with students on Distance Learning. These women are part of the process to work with families to be sure students are maintaining engagement in their schooling. They also work with the District Office on contact tracing when students are reported to have been diagnosed with or exposed to the virus. Schedule changes have been constant for these administrative assistants and attendance clerks; however, they each remain positive and flexible continuously despite the work involved with the shifts and changes. We recognize the intensity of their work and appreciate them serving our school community so diligently day after day.
