The first grade team shared with parents the reading benchmarks for the first graders. They discussed the importance of nightly reading and high frequency word practice. Finally, the teachers taught families reading and math games that could be played at home using a pair of dice. Each first grader received a pair of cool dice as well as a packet of games. They also received a free book that was purchased using funds from a library grant.
The evening ended with a performance by the first graders. They read stories and sang songs for their families. The first graders did a fantastic job! A groovy time was had by all!
