Is Your Child Vaping?

Task Force Training on Vaping and Drugs
How would you know if your child is Vaping? Parents, community members, classified staff, teachers, counselors and administrators attended a training during the evening put on by the Colusa County Sheriff’s Department in conjunction with the Pierce Joint Unified School District. Pierce High School has seen a vast increase in vaping incidents at the school this year and wanted to educate parents and staff on the prevalence of this nationwide epidemic and its presence in our school district. Sergeants Mike Bradwell and Jose Ruiz presented a slide show to the group about different types of drugs that they see abused in Colusa County. They discussed the increase of vaping among students. They informed parents that these vaping devices can be used to vape more than just nicotine. Paraphernalia that had been confiscated in vaping incidents at the school site was passed around through the audience so that they would be able to more easily recognize these devices that their children may be hiding in their bedrooms or backpacks. The devices can look like ordinary household items such as computer thumb drives, pens or even key fobs.
