On Friday, Governor Newsome announced that any school in a county on the Covid-19 watch list must begin the school year through Distance Learning. Colusa County is on that list so our plan now is that all teachers and students will be in Distance Learning to begin the year on August 13. Over the next two weeks, planning is going to be taking place to make this happen effectively. Distance Learning now is going to look much different than it did in the spring. There is legislation now that districts must follow to deliver Distance Learning. Some of those details include ensuring pupils have access to devices and connectivity for participating in the educational program, content aligned to grade level standards, daily live interaction between a certificated employee and students, designated and integrated ELD for English learners, academic supports for students not performing at grade level, and social-emotional support for pupils. The 180 day school year remains in place and there is still an instructional minutes requirement. Those instructional minutes are earned through synchronous online instruction and completed independent work by the student. The district and school sites will continue to keep you updated. Thank you.
